A waterfront view featuring various eateries, this place is a definite stunner to show off the views. And that is it.
I definitely like the atmosphere and how they’ve truly used the space well to provide plenty of outdoor seatings so that people can eat not only with their mouths, but with their eyes as they bask in the water views.
We were here on a weekday in which only the bar, The Shack and Vinnie’s Pizza were open from 12pm. We ordered from all three since it was our first time but that means that we had to go to three different locations for the food.
They did provide us with a buzzer to let us know when the food is ready to be collected.
I think it’s fair there’s no table service because it is such a huge place but there are other places with similar size that does table service.
Anyways, we started off with the pizza consisting of fresh burrata, anchovies, capers, olives, garlic and oregano. This was actually done pretty well as without the burrata, it would’ve been salty af. But the burrata cuts that saltiness and adds a nice creamy texture to the pizza. And as a non-pizza lover, I enjoyed every bite of this.
But then, the wings came and first of all, the size of it was disappointing. And this was a large size. There wasn’t much meat into it and when you dip it into their comeback sauce, it was unsatisfying. The sauce has a bit of a kick, but it is the saltness that ruins it to a degree.
Even the fish and chips. The colour of the chips surprised me at first because I’ve never seen chips so yellow before. The tartare sauce was salty, the chips were salty and the battered fish had little fish.
And I truly had high expectations for this place because many of the locals were telling me to come here. Perhaps, they were only thinking of the views and I would not come back here for the food. Except the pizza.
The drinks were also expensive closing at around $10 a schooner.
Thinking that the beaches can do pub food right is an expectation they did not meet. I have yet to find a place here at the Northern Beaches that can produce great food.
