Vegan and pescatarian restaurant in the heart of Newtown. I’m not one to readily head into a vegan restaurant but I don’t have anything against vegans either. As long as there’s something delicious in my stomach, I’m happy.
I initially tried to book via sms which they were prompt to respond to and secured my booking. Aligning with the COVID restrictions, it’s 1.5hours seating. I do recommend you to book this place as there’s not many seats and they do get taken up quickly.
As it was our first time, we didn’t know what to order as we were trying to absorb all the choices we were given. In the end, we ordered a ramen and a salmon meal set, along with a pot of Japanese tea. We had to order at the counter, but service was definitely quick and efficient.
However, I did find their food a bit too pricy for my liking. Paying $20 for ramen which its only protein is tofu does not seem worth it for me. I need real meat. But, in saying that, the broth had a good amount of kick to it & I’m not one who can handle spicy well.
For the 2nd dish, the salmon was cooked perfectly and I love how they set out the plate #aesthetic. You get a variety of pickles which all meshes well together. I’m a fan of black and brown rice as I like its texture and its healthy too.
But $26 for this plate? No. Maybe because its rent is high in Newtown where its so hipster but my stomach can find more satisfaction (and more meat) for the price I paid here.
