Mr Mengs Chongqing Gourmet @ Chinatown

I can’t believe I haven’t done a review on this place yet! Probably because I didn’t take any photos lol. I’ve been here I think 3 times already this year and I’m not sick of it!

First things first, service was pretty apt and quick as we were seated to our table immediately. Mind you, this was Saturday lunch and I was surprised (and also glad) that we didn’t need to wait. We were each given a menu filled with various choices of noodles and even dim sums and deserts! The last time I came, I had hot and sour noodles and I wanted it again because I really enjoyed the soup.

Honestly, my friends and I were terrified about the spice levels but I like how we were given choices: mild, medium spicy and spicy. We, of course, went safe and chose mild because there’s always an option to add additional spice to suit our tastes as there is no going backwards.

The brown sugar rice cake was a first for me and it wasn’t too bad. I thought it would be too sweet but it was quite nice to the palate (only if you don’t dip too much of the syrup).

Deep fried brown sugar rice cake $7.8

Its funny how its already my third time and all three times I’ve only ordered the hot and sour noodles for myself lol. I should really try other dishes.
