I started watching this last night on youtube (raw only) and I can already tell that my heart is going to break multiple times. There are 60 episodes so lets get through with this!
We begin with Jiang Sheng’s wedding with Cheng Tianyou (CTY) and Liang Sheng voices his opposition to their matrimony. Thus, he takes her hand and drags her away from the altar while everyone watches.
Immediately, we are transported to when they were children and we can see how Jiang Sheng has been living in the countryside. Her father was an important reporter who rarely comes home and she is only looked after by her mother. One day, a huge accident takes place, taking many of the villagers’ lives. Her father and his “mistress” were blamed for this accident. Jiang Sheng’s mother soon brings home Liang Sheng (the son of the mistress) and their brother-sister relationship starts to blossom.
Over the years, we see how Jiang Sheng is neglected by her biological father who always pays attention to the son instead. In the end, Jiang Sheng doesn’t even try to win her father’s affection and pays more attention to her mother by helping her with house chores and ensuring that her mother does not work too hard. Then, both Jiang Sheng and Liang Sheng receive their acceptance letters to enter university. With this opportunity to improve their lives, both siblings finally agree to go and study with the support of their parents.
At university, Jiang Sheng quickly becomes friends with Jin Ling as they’re dorm-mates. Their childhood friend, Bei Xiaowu, also gets to the same university with them and soon becomes fast friend with Xiao Jiu. Xiao Jiu is soon introduced to the siblings and they all become close friends. Liang Sheng becomes popular with many love struck girls wanting to go out with him but he clearly just wants to focus on his studies and not worry about love yet. However, one girl, Ning Weiyang, does not give up and strives to get close to him even by pretending to be close to his sister, Jiang Sheng.
We then get introduced to Cheng Tianyou who meets Jiang Sheng by fate. Through their encounters, they realise that they do have a common friend – Cheng Tianyou’s grandma. Jiang Sheng actually visits his grandma often for volunteer work and soon they both become close together. Cheng Tianyou is also secretly investigating more about his aunt’s death and finds out that she may have had a son which is his cousin.
But then, while Cheng Tianyou is slowly developing romantic feelings for Jiang Sheng, who in turns becomes a bit interested in him. However, his young brother, Cheng Tianen tries to mess up their relationship. I don’t like this brother as he always tries to act pitiful in front of Tianyou but behind his back, he plots to take everything away from his elder brother.
Tianen first messes up Jiang Sheng’s relationship with Xiao Jiu who tried to frame Jiang Sheng with drug possession at a party. This resulted in a broken friendship between the girls as Xiao Jiu was willing to do what Tianen want just for money.
Later, the siblings receive heartbreaking news that their father passed away and that their mother is bedridden. They quickly travel back to their home. The mother tries to secretly tell Liang Sheng about his true birth parents but before she could tell him about his biological father, Jiang Sheng comes in – halting the conversation to a stall. The mother soon passes away. Meanwhile, Tianyou gets closer to finding out the truth about his aunt and her son (which we know is Liang Sheng).
