Recently joining the slur of new eateries in Castle Towers, I’m so happy that I don’t need to travel far anymore! This place is seriously set out like a huge communal area as the tables and chairs are packed closely together. I can’t imagine how crowded it is during the weekends when everybody is having get-togethers. You’ll be bumping shoulders and have hellos with your butts. Seriously!
Anyways, the only difference between this place vs the other Bavarian Bier Cafe’s is that you have to order your food at the bar. But, they will bring it to you..most of it. And so, we perused through the menu, decided on what we wanted to eat and off to the bar we go to order our food and drinks. If they were already doing the table service, couldn’t they just take our order? It would’ve been much easier..honestly..(lazy me speaking).
We decided to order different dishes today to kind of expand from our usual crackling pork belly, pork knuckle and german sausages. And so, we ordered pasta and schnitzel. I accidentally ordered an extra mash with the schnitzel because they’re just so good at selling. They add in these extras so smoothly that I didn’t even know what I was saying yes to until I saw the receipt. So be careful if you don’t want to order extras. I didn’t mind because I love a good mash.
The schnitzel was huge! But flavoursome. And that mushroom ragout was smooth. It would’ve been better if they gave us mushrooms because we only got very little…tiny pieces (like 2-3 mini chopped ones). The mash (hidden under the schnitzel) was disappointing. I didn’t like it. It tasted too much like milk and it kind of turned me off.
Nothing much to say for the pasta but that it was a tad too salty for my liking.
Overall, I think there was a reason why we always ordered our pork knuckles, pork belly and German sausages. I’ll definitely stick to that in the future as this is what they do best. No more deviating from my usual order at this place for me.
