A Disney classic. Talented cast. But did it live up to its hype? Let’s find out!
We all know Emma Watson as the clever, beautiful and loyal Hermione Granger from Harry Potter, so could she break out of the role that has made her so known as THE HERMIONE GRANGER?
Well, she did! She can sing, dance and act in a role that’s reminiscent of the classic tale Beauty and the Beast. I enjoyed seeing her as Belle. Her straightforwardness and strong-willed personality were incredibly alike to Belle. She’s no damsel in distress and could definitely outwit the villains. I LOVE HER!
Dan Stevens did a fine job playing the Beast. I admit I wished he didn’t turn human in the end because I was so used to seeing him in his beast form (human form didn’t do it for me, unfortunately).
We also can’t forget our haughty Gaston. Luke Evans was amazing and even I was awed by his looks (though his narcissism deterred me – which it should!). Then we have his trusted sidekick, LeFou, who literally stole the show. Josh Gad did justice to his character and I just realised he voiced Olaf from Frozen!!!!!! Other supporting characters who also stole the show were Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs Potts and Chip!
Although we all know a remake can’t truly replace the original, I think everyone in this production did a fine job to bring back the nostalgia and relive our childhood. It is just a 21st century version (technology, music, graphics, costuming, sets) of a classic.
